Four men linked to the abduction and killing of a Meru-based nurse have been detained for seven days to allow police time to conclude investigations.

Boniface Gatobu, Stephen Mbui Chai, Tom Manyanda and Isaac Soet have been locked up at Kilimani Police Station after a court granted a police request to detain them.

They were arrested on August 26 and 27 for the abduction of Job Nyambuiya Omariba, who went missing on August 21.

The suspects were arraigned in the Kibera Law Courts on August 29, when the court allowed an application for them to be detained for 14 days. It is alleged the suspects had a hand in the nurse's death.

The deceased's body was recovered on Malili Earth Road in Salama, Makueni County. It was after the discovery that police began their investigations.

When they appeared in court Wednesday, their defence lawyers and the prosecution agreed to detain them for a further seven days to allow police to conclude investigations.

Investigating officers said the suspects were likely to interfere with the investigations if released.

The court said the suspects should be detained and produced in court on September 16 for further direction.
