A man claiming to be the one caught on film being beaten by police says he was not party to the CORD demonstrations.

Boniface Manono, 36, from the Kibra slum said he had gone to Westlands for an interview with Uber when he ran into the protests.

He said he had disembarked from a matatu due to heavy traffic only to run into trouble with police who were dispersing anti-IEBC protesters.

Manono said he was crossing University Way towards Maendeleo House when he was intercepted by police. The image of a man being brutally clobbered by three officers attracted worldwide condemnation.

He was still wearing his green jumper when he was traced to Kibra.
