PM asked to suspend Nyong’o

Prime Minister Raila Odinga has been asked to suspend Medical Services Minister Anyang’ Nyong’o over the Sh4 billion National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) scandal or he be pushed out through Parliament.

Ikolomani MP Boni Khalwale told Raila during a funeral in Sabatia Constituency on Sunday that he should prevail upon Prof Nyong’o to resign over the scam.

“I am requesting the PM to ask Nyong’o to step aside to allow investigation into the NHIF scandal because he is the one who appointed him,” Khalwale said during the funeral of Jason Omwera, the father of Nairobi Mayor George Aladwa.

He added: “If he will not resign by Tuesday I will bring the matter to Parliament and push him out.”

Cotu Secretary General Francis Atwoli, who attended the funeral, asked the PM to intervene and save public resources from being mismanaged. However, Raila did not respond to sentiments by Khalwale and Atwoli, but instead marketed his bid for the presidency.
