In a dry region where keeping livestock like camels, goats and cattle, is tied to culture, it is rare to see farmers engaging in poultry farming.

Additionally, Arid and Semi-Arid (Asal) areas are particularly susceptible to droughts and flooding, and with the constant threat of climate change, these areas are considered to be at risk of desertification and pastoralism is not a sustainable economic activity.
