Would you take your bodaboda guy on a date?

If you live in Nairobi, you probably have a 'nduthi guy' who is just a phone call away in case you need to rush somewhere.

They come in handy especially when you are late for an important meeting or you are late for work and HR is eagerly waiting to penalize you for lateness.

Those with businesses also heavily rely on them for deliveries since they make a number of trips within a short period.

Well, a Ugandan lady identified as Lyndah Uwera decided to take her bodaboda guy on a movie date as a sign of appreciation for the times he has come through for her.

She went ahead to share photos of their date on Twitter and as expected, netizens had a lot to say about the gesture.

"I took my boda for a movie yesterday and he was so happy," she wrote.

The guy, identified as Derrick, was all smiles as they went in, firmly holding his packet of popcorn in one hand and fresh juice in the other.

The post has since garnered over 2million views and over 28k likes and has generated some serious debate.

Just how far should you go with your bodaboda guy or any other essential service provider? Where do we draw the line?

Is our thinking so skewed that such acts of kindness come with negative connotations?

Viola Ishabiire: You guys be this close to Boda guys. Ahe. I respect my boda guy. Have helped him a lot, but I can't go this far. Something fishy here.

Judy Mayanja: I find this very disturbing. I can't go this far with a boda guy unless i have a crush on him/dating. Maybe there's something we don't know.

Kalema Andrew: Your Man should get worried

Lvc Elvis: It's going to be one of those. "How it started vs how it is going" I am no Prophet

Kirya Ug: How can you take your Boda Boda guy out when you have a man, so disrespectful. it's show that in either way when yo man is not around the boda guy finishes some work, because really what are you thanking him that is the most obvious way of cheating have ever seen...Wow.

Others, however, lauded Lyndah for her kindness and called on people to normalize doing such small acts to appreciate those who have helped them in one way or another.

Naiva: I think I would do this for my boda guy. I run a business which entirely survives on his good character. My boda delivery guy would choose to run away with my business money, so why not reward him when I can.

Emmanuel Wabwire: Acts of kindness will always be multiplied in return. Be assured that the security and safety you get won't be matched. Thanks for setting a standard.

Stephen Nyabwa: Good people still exist. Love this for him. Few people experience genuine acts of kindness in their lifetime. God bless you.

Micheal Ayebs: That was a great gesture, I hope the girlfriend won't feel jealous. These our Boda guys deserve such treats cause they are always there for us whenever we need them. Thank you for the good heart.

Lyndah maintained that she is not romantically involved with Derrick and her boyfriend was okay with the date, in fact, he is the one who took the photos.
