President William Ruto has asked Cabinet Secretaries to look after each other to ensure that no ministry lags behind.

The president made the remarks at State House, Nairobi on Thursday, October 27 shortly after presiding over the swearing-in of 22 Cabinet Secretaries, the Attorney-General Justin Muturi, the Secretary to the Cabinet Mercy Wanjau and Head of Public Service Felix Koskei.

"Even as I congratulate all of you (Cabinet appointees), I want to assure you of my support. You have no other option but to succeed. We have a country to look after and a plan to implement. Kenyans are watching us. No one [in the Executive] swore to serve their friends, but the people of Kenya," said President Ruto.

The Head of State asked the ministers to be each brother's keeper to ensure effective service delivery.

"You should be concerned about what is happening in the next ministry. I want collective responsibility amongst you. Since not all Kenyans can access your busy offices, I want you to work hand in hand with the elected leaders in serving Kenyans," said the president.

Ruto also reiterated his past pledge to have Cabinet Secretaries answering questions in Parliament.

"We are pushing to have our CSs interact robustly with Members of Parliament to enable them (MPs) provide oversight on what we are doing. We have a major task ahead, and I think you will be leaving your offices very late for the next few months," said Ruto.
