Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has pledged to fund a party for candidates at Komarock Primary School, Nairobi after they finish the exams.

Gachagua made the remarks while overseeing the distribution of exams in parts of Nairobi.

Speaking to the students before the Science paper began on Tuesday morning, the DP promised to give the head teacher Sh300,000 to organize an after-exam party

He has also promised to give the teachers in the institution Sh100,000.

"Can I plan a small party? After you are through with your exams, I will give the head teacher Sh300,000 so that after the exams you can come and have a party," he said.

"I will give Sh100,000 for the teachers too. So that they can also enjoy themselves," he added.

According to the DP, the government will pronounce itself on the implementation of the Competence-based Curriculum on Friday, December 2.

He says they will make a decision once they receive the final report from the task force appointed by the president to look into the suitability of the curriculum.

Gachagua was among the top government leaders who were overseeing the distribution of exam papers in Nairobi.

President William Ruto together with Education CS Ezekiel Machogu were also at Joseph Kang'ethe Primary school in Kibra.

On his tour, the president was part of a church service in the school before the candidates dispersed to their various examination halls.

While encouraging the candidates, the president said the state had provided enough security to ensure honesty and transparency in the examination process.

The president was also accompanied by Interior CS Kithure Kindiki.
