Amos Kimunya of 'I'd rather die than resign' fame calls it quits

National Assembly Majority leader and incumbent Kipipiri MP Amos Kimunya has joined the growing number of candidates who are conceding defeat in their respective positions way before the final tally by IEBC.

Kimunya conceded defeat thanking his constituents for giving him a chance to serve them for three terms (15 years) while at the same time congratulating his opponents.

He thanked his supporters and campaign team for putting up a spirited fight before the outcome.

"The people made their decision, which was different from our expectations. In a democracy, the will of the people prevails, and therefore I and #TeamKimunya, will respect their choices. We extend our congratulations to the winners," he said in a post on his verified Facebook page.

Kimunya, who once served under the plum finance docket under the late President Mwai Kibaki's regime, stated that he appreciates the dynamics of life that often offer surprising circumstances.

"We did our best for Kipipiri, we are proud of our achievements, and that history will never be erased. The people have however made their choice, and we respect it. We wish them well. May God bless Kenya, and Kipipiri". He ended.

The Majority leader who took over the position following the removal of Garissa Township MP Aden Duale in 2020 was also at the center stage in mobilising Mt Kenya locals during the BBI initiative.
