Kiyo wins centenary celebrations in Kiambu

Dan Kiyo was thrilled to win the Centenary golf tournament at the par-72, Kiambu Golf Club, over the weekend.

Kiyo was over the moon after returning an aggregate score of 80, while playing off handicap 26, to triumph over a field of 246 golfers, who participated in the two-day meet.

The tournament was presented by Ola Energy, Tatu City, Maridadi motors, Windsor Motors, Orpul-Sagret and Spurs Restaurant.

He combined 42 points from day one with 38 more from the second day to shine during the historical club event whose presentation gala was graced by Prime Cabinet Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi.

“I had a rough round on day one due the drizzling which saw me struggle with my tee-shots, but I managed to execute great recovery shots complimented with good putting that saw me record a good score before following it up with an equally commendable score on the second day to emerge victorious,” said Kiyo.

Handicap 18, Peter Gakuru claimed the Men winner prize on an aggregate score of 74 points, with Nahashon Mburu taking Men winner second on an aggregate score of 72, ahead of Men winner third Karanja Mbugua, who posted 71 aggregate points.

Ken Mwaura won the Gross prize with 154 aggregate gross points.

Handicap 17, Mary Kimemia was the best lady golfer of the day after returning 69 aggregate points, ahead of Lady winner second Grace Kibe, who posted 66 aggregate points in a three-way tie, which saw Carol Maina and Hilda Muhia settle for Lady winner third and fourth respectively.

In the subsidiary, handicap 29 Leonard Mwangi was Men winner with 64 aggregate score, while handicap 48 Hannah Wanjiru won in the ladies' category with a 62-aggregate score.

Leading the prize onslaught among the guests was John Nganga playing off handicap 25 after garnering 35 stableford points.

Taking the bragging rights among the sponsors was a handicap 27 Paul Muema
