Over 150 amateurs to battle it out for Chairman's Prize in Nakuru

A contingent of 150-plus golfers converges in Nakuru City as Nakuru Golf Club plays host to Chairman (Steve Kihumba) 2021 Prize this Saturday.

Presented by; Crown Paints Kenya PLC, Vivo Energy, Automobile Association of Kenya AA, Fosroc Limited, Horizon drillers, Coca Cola, Macklocks Limited.

Others are; Sahota Body Works, Sheth & Wathigo Advocates & Friends of the Chairman.

The meet coincides with celebration activities at various social places within the newest city in the country after its conferment by President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday.

As part of the charter celebrations, the clubs' management committee has invited resident golfers as well as guest players to participate in the daylong tournament with an array of prizes up for grabs with the course playing great following recent rains being experienced within the city and its environs.

According to the draw, the trio of Chairman Kihumba, Lucy Mukuru and Jane Mugweru will be first off the deck at 6:30am on the front nine during the tournament to be played under Stableford scoring format in a continuous draw.

While former club Captain Robert Obondy, M Mutwasi and K. Mary will tee-up on the 10th tee at the same time with the last team for the day expected to tee-off at 11:30 with post-entries being allowed.

“I extend a warm welcome to those who will be joining us on Saturday as well as those visiting the newest City to expect a fun-filled and memorable golf outing,” Kihumba said

Adding; “The course is in immaculate shape. A lot of effort has been put into preparing the course by the green-keeping team for this year’s tournament with great prizes on offer. Bring your a-game with you!”

Top contenders for the top accolades are; Vice-Captain Matthew Maiyo, Joseph Kioko, junior David Kiiru and Harry Graham whose been exhibiting good form lately. In the Ladies section, Eleanor Wambui, Lucy Mukuru, and Kuljit Sahota are the ladies to beat.
