Are you an enthusiastic golf fan and you worried that you will miss out on the Magical Kenya Open and Kenya Savannah Classic because of the tough Covid-19 protocols that have been put in place ahead of today’s tee-off at Karen Golf and Country Club?

Worry no more because Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL), through their iconic brand Johnnie Walker, has got you covered.

KBL haas set up mini viewing centres across the country where spectators will get opportunity to watch leading television broadcaster KTN, beam live proceedings of the global showpieces for five hours a day.

“The centres are located in 24 golf clubs across the country,” KBL Senior Brand Manager Reserve, Catherine Maribei, told The Standard Sport.

The locations are in Vet Lab, Muthaiga, Sigona, Limuru, Royal, Kiambu, Railways, Golf Park and Ruiru.

Others are in Thika, Nanyuki, Nyeri, Nakuru, Eldoret, Kericho, Kitale, Kakamega, Nyanza, Nyali, Vipingo, Malindi, Mombasa and Karen.

Apart from watching the proceedings of the two tournaments, the fans will have an opportunity to compete in mini Johnnie Walker golf tournaments that will be held at the venues.

“The competitions will take place on different days during the period that the Kenya Open and the Savannah Classic will be held, the winners will be showered with various merchandises,” said Maribei.

Ahead of Kenya Open and the Savannah Classic, KBL facilitated training of the 12 local pros to represent Kenya in the events.

“We have also taken care of their accommodation expenses,” said Maribei.

The pros who will make the cut in the tournaments will each get Sh100,000 from KBL.

In addition, anyone who will be lucky to sink a hole-In-one shot at the challenging par 3 hole 16 will walk away with the rarest finest prize which is a Johnnie Walker Blue hamper worth Sh20,000 in cash.

KBL are also proud to be the presenting sponsors at the Open. The brewers will also be the alcohol beverage partners of Kenya Savannah Classic.

Maribei says the reason they are heavily investing in sports is to help harness raw talent in Kenya.

“We are out to build the players so that they perform well in the PGA Tour events which are global.”

“Muthaiga’s Greg Snow and Dismas Indiza have so far benefited as Johnnie Walker brand ambassadors.”
