Treasure hunt stirs family bonding

Nothing excites more than an adventurous movie where the actors have to search a dangerous forest for buried treasure.

And neither did the treasure hunt organised at the Kfeet centre in Karura last Saturday.

The treasure hunt event sponsored by Toyota Kenya, Bic and other partners attracted many families.

Generation Next caught up with one of the participants, Ashley Akinyi a Standard Three pupil from White Star Academy.

“I have never been at Karura Forest before and I enjoyed every minute of the experience. It was fun, playing with my parents, although I was tired walking in the forest,” said Akinyi.

It was the first time for such an event to be organised.

The event coordinator, Nancy Ndungu, said the treasure hunt gave a chance for parents and children to bond.

It also helped create awareness that Karura forest is a safe place to be in.

“Parents had a chance to answer questions with their children and this was a great opportunity for bonding,” said Ndungu.

Every child who took part in the Treasure Hunt went home with a bag of goodies courtesy of the sponsors.
