FKF Premier League newcomers Murang’a SEAL face off record champions Gor Mahia in an eagerly awaited top-of-the-table encounter at Kasarani Stadium on Saturday.

Promoted to the Premier League in June this year after a stellar performance in the National Super League (NSL), Murang’a SEAL has defied the odds, making a dream start to their top-flight campaign.

SEAL are currently tied on 20 points with second placed K'Ogalo after winning six of their opening ten matches.

Gabriel Njoroge side's impressive victories over established Premier League sides such as Tusker, Nairobi City Stars, Sofapaka, Nzoia Sugar, Shabana, and Kakamega Homeboyz have demonstrated their mettle and determination. Far from being a mere newcomer, the Murang’a County club has proven that they can compete at the highest level.

On the flip side, Gor Mahia, the defending champions, have experienced a mix of results in their recent outings, registering three draws and three wins in their last six matches. Despite this inconsistency, Gor remains the only unbeaten side in the league, posing a formidable challenge for the rising Murang’a SEAL.

The outcome of this showdown could have significant implications for the league table. The winner of today's match could leapfrog leaders Posta Rangers at the top depending on their result against AFC Leopards at Ulinzi Sports Complex.

AFC Leopards, currently second last with eight points, will be eager to halt the league leaders, Posta Rangers, who sit at the summit with 21 points. The triumphant team in the SEAL vs. Gor Mahia clash might find themselves at the top of the table if AFC Leopards successfully achieve their goal.

In other league fixtures, Tusker is set to take on Nairobi City Stars, while bottom-placed Shabana will host Nzoia Sugar in Homa Bay.

Meanwhile, Kakamega Homeboyz piled more misery on Sofapaka after thrashing them 5-0 in Friday's FKF PL match at Bukhungu Stadium.
