Record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia on Sunday knocked out Bidco United 4-1 on penalties in the semifinals played at Utalii Grounds to set up a Mashemeji Derby duel in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Cup finals.
Gor will now face archrivals and 10-time cup champions AFC Leopards in the finals after the latter eliminated FKF Division Two side Equity FC 6-5 on post-match penalties after playing out to a barren draw.
Gor shot-stopper Gad Mathews saved Bidco United’s first penalty in a dominant KÓgalo show in the shout out that saw Bidco miss two kicks and bow out of the cup competition.
Clifton Miheso and Sammy Onyango led the Green Army in converting all their four penalties to sail through to the finals, nine years since they won the cup title in 2012.
The two sides had battled to a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes at Utalii grounds.
Former captain Kenneth Muguna gave Gor the lead in the fourth minute through an audacious free-kick before Davis Orem restored parity in the 19th minute.
The winner of the competition will earn a ticket to represent the country in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.
Additionally, the winners of the domestic cup will pocket Sh2 million in prize money.
