Real Madrid don't need Paul Pogba - they need "humble" players.

That's the opinion of former Los Blancos star Uli Stielike, who isn't convinced Pogba would "sacrifice" himself for Real Madrid.

Manchester United star Pogba has long been linked with a move away from Old Trafford, with Real Madrid and Juventus among the clubs interested in signing him.

Speculation that Pogba will leave has grown since Bruno Fernandes joined United in the January transfer window. The Portuguese has impressed for the Red Devils, who haven't needed the World Cup winner to get results.

But Stielike doesn't believe his former team should offer Pogba an escape route.

When asked if Real Madrid should sign Pogba, Stielike told AS: "If you want to return to the idea of the Galacticos, maybe yes, but I am more in favor of humble players with great talent and sacrifice for the team."

Despite claims Pogba is no longer needed at Manchester United, due to the emergence of Fernandes, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has back the Frenchman to succeed.

He strongly believes Pogba can form a partnership with Fernandes to United's benefit.

The Norwegian told Sky Sports: "Good players can always play together, so definitely, they can - it's a big yes.

"I think it's exciting... we do have an exciting squad. I've got Scott [McTominay], Fred, Nemanja [Matic]. There's many games coming up and I'm sure we can find a good connection between them. We've been discussing that as a coaching team of course, and we're looking forward to it.

"Of course Bruno coming in, making the impact he made, it was a boost for everyone, the club, supporters and players. Getting Paul and Marcus Rashford back would be fantastic.

"Paul has had a difficult season with injuries, and Marcus as well is getting back. So for us, and for them too, this gives them a chance to start on a par or even ahead of other players."
