Letshego emerged winners of the Standard Chartered Road to Anfield trophy 2019 after beating Capital 3-2 in post-match penalty shootout.

The teams squared for a one-all draw at the regulation time in a tense match that brought memories of the 2017 tournament.

This is a sweet win for Letshego having crushed out of the finals in the last three editions of the “Road to Anfield” tournament.

The team will travel to the UK in in May for a fully paid 4-day trip to represent Kenya at the Standard Chartered Trophy Finals, which will be played at Anfield, the home of Liverpool FC. In addition, the winning team will attend an English Premier League match pitting Liverpool against Wolverhampton at Anfield, and will benefit from a professional training session with Liverpool FC legends and coaches to help it prepare for the final tournament.

This year’s tournament saw a record 51 teams battle for the single slot to represent Kenya in the Standard Chartered international trophy at the iconic Anfield stadium home of Liverpool FC..

The ‘Standard Chartered Trophy, ‘Road to Anfield’, is an international 5 aside football tournament which is held in select countries across Africa, Europe and Asia as part of the partnership between the Bank and Liverpool FC. This follows the signing of a sponsorship deal between Standard Chartered Bank and Liverpool FC in September 2009, the largest commercial agreement in Liverpool’s history. The agreement, which started in July 2010, has seen the Bank’s name and logo appear on the Liverpool shirt.
