Former Harambee Stars defender George Owino popularly known as Audi has been accused of match-fixing.

Owino is said to have earned millions between June 2009 and 2011 in a match-fixing scandal that football body Fifa is investigating at the moment.

The former Harambee Stars defender is said to have conspired with international match-fixer Wilson Raj Perumal to manipulate and influence the results of various international matches involving Kenya.

Details of the fixed matches have been mentioned in a 10-page investigation report seen by a local media house.

Fifa is also said to be in possession of emails that are suspected to be exchanged between the player and Wilson Raj Perumal.

“The purpose I’m going to bring you there is for business, but you have to remain loyal to me only. Remain free. Salary each month is Sh3 million. If I say lose, you do as I say, or else you won’t see your salary,” read one of the emails sent to Owino.

Fine, no problem, because even I want a good life for my family, so I will do as you say,” the defender replied.

The famous 2010 Fifa World Cup qualifier between Kenya and Tunisia that was played on October 11, 2009, is among the matches suspected to have been fixed.
