Troubled AFC to raise funds as Zdravko locked out of house

AFC Leopards coach Zdravko Logarusic

AFC Leopards coach Zdravko Logarusic will have no house to go back to when he returns home after the caretaker of his apartment asked him to vacate due to non-payment of rent.

Logarusic left for Croatia at the weekend after the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) took a break. However, two days after leaving, he was informed that the apartment was no longer available for him.

In messages seen by Feverpitch, the caretaker of the apartment informs Logarusic:

“AFC Leopards have not paid your rent and looks like they will not pay. We have to market the apartment but in the meantime will keep your clothes till you get back.”

In the last two months, two AFC Leopards players have been caught in a similar situation after they were thrown out of their houses for non-payment of rent.

The club has in the meantime announced plans for a major fundraising event next week in a bid to stem what is expected to be a mass exodus of players.

The fundraiser to be presided over by Vihiga Governor Moses Akaranga seeks to raise Sh12 million, which is a tall order in itself considering the apathy fans have generally shown towards such ventures.

AFC Leopards Deputy Secretary General Asava Kadima, one of the officials still remaining at the club, expressed confidence that they can raise enough money to keep the club afloat in the second leg.

“We are asking our fans to turn up in large numbers and help the club raise money so that we can keep our good players for the second leg,” he said.

He added: “We hope the fans will continue supporting us as they have done before. We have a Paybill number of 196464 that one can use to send any amount to the club. Anyone who deeply loves this club now has a chance to show that in whatever little way.”
