We won’t release Rama and Sserunkuma, say Gor

By GILBERT WANDERA

Gor Mahia have said they will not allow influential forward Rama Salim to leave the club just yet.

The club rejected a formal request by Qatari club Al-Marhiya for the player’s signature.

According to Gor Mahia Secretary General George Bwana, they can only release the player at the end of this season.

“We met representatives of the club on Wednesday and, while we do not mind releasing the player, he cannot go now. At the moment, we are chasing the league title and he can only leave at the end of the season,” said Bwana.

Regarding Ugandan striker Dan Sserunkuma, Bwana said they have reported his agent Ken Joseph to Football Kenya Federation (FKF) for allegedly sneaking the player out of the country to attend trials in Armenia.

“We want the federation to take up the matter with world body, Fifa, so that they can punish the agent for violating its statutes (on sale of players),” he said.

Salim and Sserunkuma are back in the country after sneaking out to attend trials in Qatar and Eastern Europe.

It is a move that has put the club’s top officials on the spot after fans attacked them for letting the players go at a time when they are chasing the league title.

The absence of the two strikers has caused serious disaffection among club faithful.
