Fly Guy - Jacob Ouma

Name: Jacob Ouma, former Mr University Kenya, model and director of Amedia Limited.

Age: 26

How did winning the Mr University title change your life?

In 2006, I won the Mr Kenyatta University title and proceeded to represent Kenya in South Korea where I was a first runner-up in the Mr University international

Jacob Ouma
pageant. I was the last to represent Kenya on such an international platform. It helped me to gain a lot of exposure and networks, which went a long way in helping establish my own company.

What have you been up to since then?

Apart from managing my company, I am a professional model and I have done a lot of local and international TV and print commercials. I’m also a freelance TV presenter and events MC.

How hard is it to run a business in Kenya?

Starting a company is a big challenge, especially when you only have great ideas and no capital. It was never a smooth ride. I started it with my co-director while still in campus and we are currently managing PR and marketing for several corporations, NGOs and government ministries.

How do you keep fit?

By going to the gym and through spiritual fitness (praying, fellowship and reading my bible).

Are you dating?

Yes. I am in a stable relationship.
