Spanish PM calls US tariffs 'unilateral attack', proposes aid plan

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on Thursday slammed the sweeping new tariffs announced by US President Donald Trump and announced a 14.1-billion euro ($15 billion)package to help Spanish sectors hurt by the levies.

Sanchez said the tariffs were a "unilateral attack" by Washington against Europe and marked a return to "19th century protectionism, which in my opinion, is not an intelligent way to meet the challenges of the 21st century."
