Singer Colonel Mustafa and his mother, who is undergoing treatment for Stage 2 Lymphoma Cancer, have received a promise of assistance from Ezekiel Mutua, the Chief Executive Officer of the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK).

Through social media, Mutua offered to support Mustafa restart his musical career.

"I can't wait to see this great talent back in the studio. He is not a mjengo guy. He is a gifted musician and I have committed to pay for him to join MCSK and get back to music," he said in part.

Mutua went on to add that he is engaging lawyers to help Mustafa receive all the royalties for his work that he has ever produced. According to Mutua, copyright applies throughout lifetime and 50 years after death.

"We are also engaging lawyers to see how he can be compensated for the use of his music by broadcasters and at public events. Copyright applies throughout lifetime and 50 years after death. I am sure there are good lawyers who can help pursue this angle and help Mustafa," he added.

The popular musician recently gained attention after publicly discussing his financial struggles and his mother's illness. In a video that went viral, he was seen doing "Mjengo," which sparked reactions from fans who questioned the music industry's pay.

In a recent interview with vlogger Eve Mungai, Mustafa disclosed that he has been struggling to pay for his mother's chemotherapy, which has had a significant impact on his finances.

Ever since his story came to the limelight, Mustafa has received help from different well-wishers - including controversial politician Karen Nyamu.

"Mustapha is an old friend of mine and seeing him in that state shocked me too. In my absence my team visited Mustapha's ailing mom and offered my personal support. This is an appeal to his fans who are willing to support the family in the smallest way you can na mbarikiwe," said Nyamu.
