Cast: Stephen Lang, Madelyn Grace, Brendan Sexton III, Adam Young, Bobby Schofield, Rocci Williams.

Directed by: Rodo Sayagues Mendez

Genre: Horror, Mystery & Thriller, Action

Rating: 8/10

Blind veteran Norman Nordstrom has been hiding out for several years in an isolated cabin with a young girl. When a group of unseemly criminals kidnaps her, he is forced to tap into even darker and more creative instincts in an effort to save her.

Thumbs up:

The kind of movie to keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time. The first Don’t Breathe is slightly better, because, in contrast, the bad guy is redeemed and becomes the anti-hero in this one. Despite some cheesy lines, the acting was intense, solid, and believable. Madelyn Grace gave a tour de force breakout performance and Stephan Lang was also fun to watch. Cinematography was stellar, despite all of it happening in the dark.

Thumbs down:

A lot of scenes were either silly or plain unbelievable. Like how a blind guy could topple over the big red cabinet full of water when a few minutes prior an equally built guy could not, yet it was empty. The move from horror in the first movie to some action movie thriller also fails to stick the landing. Nice movie as a stand-alone but not so much as a second part.

Verdict: Don’t Breathe 2 has enough thrills, blood and suspense to make you hold your breath for the next one.
