Rapper A$AP Rocky has opened up about his true feelings about girlfriend Rihanna, calling her "the one.”
The 32-year-old, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, confirmed last month that he is dating the singer - although the couple have been linked since 2013, when Rocky appeared in one of the Umbrella hitmaker’s videos.
Speaking at the launch of his new documentary he said about her: "The love of my life. My lady. It's so much better. So much better when you got the one. She amounts to probably, like, a million of the other ones. I think when you know, you know. She's the one.”
Rocky’s new film, called Stockholm Syndrome, features a star cast including Kim Kardashian and Naomi Campbell. It charts his rise to fame and his imprisonment in Sweden in 2019, hence its title.
Rocky was initially arrested for aggravated assault, which was reduced to simple assault. He spent a month in custody before he was given a suspended sentence and was ordered to pay damages of around £2,000 to his victim.
But the rapper, who has performed with Skepta and the Black Eyed Peas among others, wants the public to know that he is happy to put his life story up for discussion.
He said: "I think making a documentary is all about vulnerability. The documentary is all about showing honesty, authenticity, purity.
"I just wanted to tell my story without really complaining or without, you know, seeming like a victim, or like I wanted a pity party or what not. So, here it is."
The singer then became emotional about his megastar girlfriend, whose real name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, saying:
"It's important having that support in real life, you know?
"It's amazing and I'm honestly truly blessed, for real."
Rocky was born in Harlem, New York, and his parents came from Barbados, the same Caribbean island that is home to Rihanna.
With the 33-year-old actress, businesswoman and one of the world’s best-selling singers by his side, no wonder he believes that he has a bright future. He added:
“What's next for me was what I was doing before I went to prison. Me and the prettiest muthaf***** ever, we breaking headlines and making history with creativity.”
Stockholm Syndrome had its premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York but it does not yet have a release or streaming date in the UK.
