Bishop Margaret Wanjiru on Friday offered to pay first term fees for KCPE top candidate Faith Mumo who scored 433 marks out of a possible 500. Margaret said she was touched by the story of the girl’s father, Paul Mumo, who lost his job due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In a recent interview, Paul said he had to relocate back to the village after things became tough. He then drafted a study timetable that Mumo adhered to diligently, helping her emerge first countrywide.

"I'm very happy. Faith is a very prayerful girl, very confident and hardworking. When schools closed in March, we all left Nairobi and we travelled to Kagundo. We gave her a timetable that she adhered to,” he said.

Margaret said she was touched by this and will offer support to ease the family’s burden. She further encouraged Mumo to continue working hard towards becoming a neurosurgeon. “Knowing that her dad lost his job due to Covid-19 pandemic, the support will ease the family's burden and encourage Faith to continue working hard towards her dream of becoming a neurosurgeon.

“I advise the parents to encourage their children regardless of the marks they got; everyone has a chance to succeed in this life. With GOD all things are possible....,” wrote the Bishop.

In a separate post, Margaret also congratulated her grandson Melchizedek Ombogo who scored 423 marks.

In an interview with KTN News anchor Mary Kilobi Atwoli, Mumo said she would be delighted to join the Kenya High School for her secondary education and pursue neurosurgery thereafter.

"After I go to Kenya High which is my dream school, I want to become a neurosurgeon because a lot of people have head damages and it has been hurtful for me to see Congestina Achieng’ so I decided to become a neurosurgeon," the top student in the 2020 KCPE exam revealed.
