Two-time Grammy award-winning reggae group Morgan Heritage is set to release three singles, Standard Entertainment and Lifestyle can report. The legendary group that was formed in 1994 and that has good connection in Kenya is going digital in the new project that will drop as a non-fungible token (NFT) one, powered by Bondly Finance.

It is not only embracing technology but also infusing its new project with sounds from a new generation of artistes from across Africa and the world. NFT is a unit of data stored on a digital ledger, called a blockchain, that certifies a digital asset to be unique and therefore not interchangeable, one that can be used to represent items such as photos, videos, audio and other types of digital files. The iconic group is the first reggae group and among a few top stars to use the technology.

With a brand new single Light it Up, and two digitally remastered versions of The World is Yours and Don’t Haffi Dread, the reggae group will be using the Saturday (April 17, 2021) release as a buildup towards their upcoming album Legacy – which will be released in May 28. The album not only covers the group’s illustrious career but also takes one through a musical journey that spans 60 years of Jamaican music and its evolution throughout.

“Among the artistes featured in the new album include Toots Hibbert from Toots and The Maytals, Ziggy Marley, Stephen Marley, Shaggy, Beres Hammond, Rebelution, Bounty Killer, Chronixx, J Boog, Soja, Diamond Platnumz, Stonebwoy and Patoranking,” a representative of the group told Standard Entertainment and Lifestyle.

During the Saturday launch, the group will be rewarding its fans with five people getting a chance to win a BCCG (Beckett Collectors Club Grading) card.

“When I was introduced to Morgan Heritage music, I fell in love instantly and then realised how big their fanbase was globally. For us here at Bondly when it’s all said and done, we are pleased to be able to be the ones that brought Morgan Heritage and their amazing music to the 100 million cryptocurrency users that exist today,” says Bondly CEO Brandon Smith.

Currently comprised of Gramps, Peetah, and Mr. Mojo, Morgan Heritage are the holy trinity comprising the iconic culturally driven family band Morgan Heritage, which has bridged continents and styles of Reggae with their latest offering.

The group has amassed over 36 million streams on their top tracks and has charted on numerous occasions. As leaders and trendsetters, Morgan Heritage are known worldwide for their riveting stage presence and exciting showmanship.

Their loyal fanbase and exemplary work ethics has helped the group perform their music globally from Africa to Europe, across the Caribbean to North and South America.
