Adele used mediators to split fortune with husband in 'friendly divorce'

News
Adele has reportedly vowed to shun lawyers in a bid to avoid an acrimonious divorce from her husband Simon Konecki.

Adele has reportedly used mediators to split her pop fortune with her husband Simon Konecki in a bid to avoid an acrimonious divorce. The superstar singer, 32, split from her partner, 46, in 2019 and they are now going through the process of dissolving their marriage.

The Sun reports they recently reached an agreement over their finances and custody of their son Angelo, eight, and used mediators to get them through the process. The publication claims paperwork confirming the deal has now been filed with court officials in Los Angeles, which both Adele and Simon live.

A source said: "This has been a very long time coming, but the sums of money involved and the assets are absolutely huge. They made it very clear they didn't want to set lawyers on each other but the process hasn't been exactly straightforward all the same. The priority was making sure they did right by their son, Angelo."

The insider went on to add that the pair have managed to keep the divorce friendly and have successfully avoided "an explosive public court case" and "slanging matches". It's believed by keeping the divorce amicable they now have a good chance of staying on friendly terms going forward.

The insider added: "There have been disagreements on the way but the mediation did its job."

Us Weekly previously reported the 32-year-old singer filed a judgement package with the court on January 15. The pair have reportedly represented themselves throughout the discussions but they will not be officially divorced until a judge agrees and signs off the proposal.

The publication also reported Adele and Simon used mediation to carve up their properties and fortune. It has been a long process since Adele initially filed for divorce in September 2019, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split.

At that time, the filing showed that they both wanted joint custody of their son Angelo, with visitations to be negotiated in the mediation process. In March 2020, they both signed a confidentiality agreement regarding the details of their divorce.

Adele and Simon had dated for seven years before they tied the knot in May 2018. Since the split, Adele has undergone a huge transformation as she lost seven stone after undertaking a diet and fitness regime that left her looking unrecognisable to her former self.
