Gospel singer and EMB records CEO Kevin Bahati might have spent a whooping Sh270, 000 to acquire his wife’s Diana Marua proposal ring, it has emerged.
In a post on his Instagram account that he later backed with a confession in his reality TV show Being Bahati, the Kuchu Kuchu hit maker explained that part of the reason for getting the expensive ring was to silence nosy netizens.
‘Staki waseme ooh…Bahati alipea msupa wake ring ikafade ohh....nawajua nyinyi Instagram in laws (I don’t want them (Instagram users) to say I proposed to her with a cheap ring. I know you well Instagram in-laws)” he said on the show.

Bahati also revealed the amount of effort preceding the big proposal with his elder brother and Diana’s sister largely involved.
His revelation in Instagram was met with stinging criticism from a section of fans who interpreted it as extravagance forcing him to pull it down.
Bahati then went ahead to pull off the surprise proposal to his wife before a large crowd that had turned up at Thika Stadium to usher in the New Year.
“Nampenda sana. Na leo ameitikia kunioa (I love her so much and today she has said yes to my marriage proposal)” he told revellers as an overwhelmed Diana broke into tears.

On why he proposed to her yet he had already done a traditional marriage back in October 2017, the singer explained that he had to do it since no one had seen him proposing before.
“A man can do a traditional wedding but one needs to put a ring on it. We are taking a step at a time," he told Pulse.
It comes just weeks after Diana surprised him with a sleek Range Rover on his birthday but many were sceptical of her financial ability. It was later revealed that all Diana had done was to hire the high end vehicle for Bahati to use for a few days as a way of inspiring him to follow his dreams.
So folks, what do you think? Is a quarter a milli too much money for a proposal ring?
