A venue has been secured for the upcoming swearing-in ceremony of Governor-elect Anne Waiguru.

The Standard has learnt the event was shifted from Kerugoya Stadium to Kirinyaga University grounds on Waiguru's request.

An insider within the committee organising the event, said the new venue within Kutus town, which is also the county headquarters, is set to be gazetted.

Some residents had questioned why the ceremony — slated for next week on Monday — had been moved to Kerugoya while Kutus was the headquarters.

"We resolved that anything major concerning the county should always be done in Kutus town, which is the official county headquarter and the swearing in of Governor Waiguru should be done there," said Gacoki Kimari, a resident.

Meanwhile, all the nine outgoing county executives are expected to handover on Saturday. Sources hinted the handover could be held at the Anglican Church hall in Kutus.
