Utawala Academy in Embakasi, Nairobi, is still celebrating impressive performance.

Thirty eight candidates scored 400 marks and above. The top performer was Okumu Lionel Migono with 418 marks followed by Kinyanjui Elsie Wanjuku, who got 417. Omondi Wema Achieng came third with 416 marks.

"I expected to do very well but not this much. I could not believe it when my mother told me. I was ecstatic when it dawned on me I had excelled," said Migono.

He dream is to join the Nairobi School and pursue law or an engineering course at the university.

Wanjuku thanked her teachers, sponsors and parents for being with her throughout. "Apart from being prayerful, I also listened to advise from teachers," she said.

She hopes to join Kenya High and later study law.

Among the top performers were twins Malva Chepkorir and Myron Chepkorir, who had 392 marks.

"It was fun having my twin sister in the same class although we had some misunderstandings, but at the end of the day, we would study together and discuss other issues,'' said Myron.

"We didn't expect to get the same marks. We never got the same marks before,'' said Malva.

Deputy head teacher Margaret Anyango attributed the good results to intense interaction with learners.

"There is no time wasted in this school. During preps, children do their private studies and assignments,’’ she said.

She also thanked parents, teachers, pupils and school workers.
