Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology in partnership with conference implementing agencies in the health care sector has developed a Primary Health Care Model as an enabler for both county and the National governments to accelerate attainment of Universal Health Care, UHC.
In this regard, JKUAT organised a two-day UHC conference at JKUAT’s main campus, Juja, to unveil the model to key stakeholders that ran from August 15 to16, 2019.
The Conference, whose theme was: “Sorting out Primary Health Care: Word to Action” brought together key stakeholders in the healthcare sector including relevant national and county government departments.
Also participating were local communities, researchers, academics and health sector players at national and county government levels.
The chief guest, Health Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki, presided over the opening ceremony and launched the JKUAT-UHC Model that seeks to complement national and county governments’ efforts in attaining the Cuban system of health care by 2022 through equipping primary health care staff with top-notch skills.
Guest Speakers included Education CS Prof. George Magoha; Sabina Chege, who chairs Parliamentary Health Committee, and JKUAT Vice-Chancellor Prof. Victoria Wambui Ngumi.
