Naivasha, Kenya: Naivasha constituency is the toast of Nakuru County a day after it produced the best schools in last year’s KCPE exam in the region.
Residents of Naivasha and Gilgil had reason to smile despite Nakuru County’s poor showing in the national rankings.
Of the top five schools in the county, three were from Naivasha; all were privately owned and run.
Gilgil Hills Academy from Gilgil was first with a mean score of 410, followed by High Peak Junior Academy in Naivasha with 393 marks.
Lizar Junior Academy, also in Naivasha, came in fifth in the county with a mean score of 383.
It was song and dance at High Peak Junior Academy, as parents joined teachers and students in celebrating the good results.
The school also produced the best girl in Naivasha constituency, Linnet Njoki, who scored an impressive 428 marks in the exam.
Njoki, who has expressed a desire to join Alliance Girls High School, attributed her good performance to hard work, prayers and support from her teachers.
“This is our greatest day as a family and we thank the school management for producing the best candidate in Naivasha,” said Njoki’s mother, Julia Nyambura.
The school’s director, David Mwangi, said their mean score rose from 383 last year to 393.
And in the nearby Little Friends Academy, it was tears of joy as the school produced the best male candidate in Nakuru County.
The candidate, John Muga Okello, scored 436 marks in the exam.
