Three directors and school principal of Muisuni Girls High School in Kangundo where a form three student died after a toilet caved in two days ago have been arrested.

Reliable sources told Standard Digital that the four individuals were arrested yesterday evening after a multi-agency team carried out a day-long preliminary investigation into last Sunday night’s incident which also left another student admitted to Machakos level 5 hospital with serious injuries.

The three directors who have been arrested include, Martin Malili, Robert Thyaka, and Benjamin Keli. The principal is Everlyn Nguma. The three are set to be charged in a Kangundo court today.

Yesterday, parents were allowed to pick their daughters from the school following a stakeholder meeting led by Machakos County director of education Shamsa Mohammed. Form four candidates were however allowed to remain in the school.

Speaking to Standard Digital at the school yesterday, Mutune Munguti, who is the father of the deceased student termed the incident as ‘the most painful experience’ in his entire parenthood.

“We are devastated as a family. Our daughter was bright, obedient and charming. She was our great source of hope, but this accident has robbed us such a promising and beautiful soul,” Munguti said.

He said he last spoke to her daughter two weeks ago through telephone. “She was in her usual excitement mood and even told me she was faring well in studies. We were expecting her home next week when schools close,” he said.
