Machakos, Kenya: There was drama at Kangundo Law Courts when angry members of the public stormed the court premises and ejected a prosecutor on claims that he has been handling cases while drunk.

Led by lawyer Priscilla Kioko, the protesters stormed the court compound and confronted Inspector Joseph Kiarie, who was allegedly preparing case files for the day’s prosecution.

But Mr Kiarie mockingly dismissed the protestors, claiming he was a man of long experience in the service.

“I am a brown, handsome man who has long years of service on the job, and being drunk does not interfere with my performance,” said a staggering Kiarie.

The prosecutor stunned journalists when he fearlessly faced cameras and said he did not care about his performance while prosecuting cases.

“I don’t care. I am an old man who does not fear little threats. You cannot teach an old dog new tricks,” he said.

The protesters demanded that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Keriako Tobiko immediately transfer the prosecutor.
