T20 Cricket: Mombasa Sports Club maintain top form in Coast championship

Former champions Mombasa Sports Club A extended their good run at the Coast NCBA Bank T20 cricket tournament after registering their second win in a row.

Mombasa Sports Club defeated Mombasa Simba by 11 runs. Simba won the toss and decided to field scoring 113 for six.

Harkishan Singh and Nithin Arvind hit 39 and 24 respectively for Simba Union. Wicket takers from Mombasa Sports Club where man-of-the-match Shem Obado who had 4/26 while Sushil Sharma had 1/22.

Mombasa Sports Club won 124/7 where Abraham Vadada was the highest scorer with 38 runs with Puru Sharma adding 34 runs.

Wicket takers Satpal Ghatora and Vinod Kumar had 2/23 and 2/13 respectively.

In their opening match, MSC A defeated their team B side by 147 for five at home. The B team had 44 runs.

MSC A had Sagar Karia scoring the highest 92 runs before he was caught by Malind Kamdar and bowled by Mohammed Mehdi. Vaitsal Shah was not out at 20 runs for MSC B.

The league, which enjoys a sponsorship of Sh2.2 million by NCBA, has attracted nine teams. In the opening matches last week, champions Shree Cutch Leva Sports Club dismissed Memon Sports Club at Coast Gymkhana Sports Club.

At Jaffery Sports Club, Mombasa Sports Club B stunned the host Jaffery when they beat them by seven wickets.

The home team scored 86 runs where Martin Okoth and Kavi Ajay hit 23 and 28 runs in that order. Malind Kamdar had four wickets for 19.

Chasing the target, Mombasa Sports Club B hit 87 for four with Rayyan Ahmed scoring 20 runs. Vishal Shikotra and Khush Shah bagged 19 and 18 runs respectively.

In another match, Coast Gymkhana Sports Club were at home to beat Jaffery Sports Club by four wickets. Jaffery had 128 runs before Coast Gymkhana hit 129 for six.

NCBA Bank Treasury Director, Sankul Mandavia said the bank has kept increasing its footprint in Mombasa and will continue sporting cricket at the Coastal city.
