‘Alien skull' spotted on a comet by amateur astronomer

An eagle-eyed amateur astronomer spotted what looks like the skull of an alien - on a comet.

Space enthusiast Joe White noticed the strange-shaped rock when he was looking through images captured above Comet 67P.

The staggering shot - taken from the European Space Agency's Rosetta spacecraft - shows the 80ft pyramid shaped 'head' with what looks like a face.

The 45-year-old space video journalist, from Bristol, said: "I was sifting through dozens of Comet 67P images when I saw this stunning close flyby image.

"Is this a giant ancient alien skull on Comet 67P in this recent close flyby image?

"If this is a skull or carved statue head then it's the size of a building to show in this much detail at 8.7 km distance."

The 82ft tall 'head' was captured by a camera on the space station when it swooped close to the comet on February 14.

Rosetta team members have dubbed the towering rock 'Cheops' after the largest pyramid in Giza, Egypt.

Joe has an online space TV channel on You Tube called ArtAlienTV.
