Man sues official over appointment

Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto's administration suffered a setback after the Employment and Labour court in Kericho refused to terminate a case against it. In the suit, Samuel Keter wants the court to annul a letter written to him by County Secretary Jonathan Soi revoking his appointment to the office of the County Attorney.

In his oral submissions before Justice Njagi Marete, the lead counsel for the County Government Andrew Matwere asked the court to dismiss the petition filed by Keter on grounds of technicality.

This is after the petitioner's advocate Judy Madahana failed to turn up after being held up in traffic. But Justice Marete dismissed Matwere's application saying the law demands that the petitioner be given a chance to argue his case.

In his petition, Keter questioned why the County Secretary, annulled an appointment made by the governor. The County Government, the Governor, County Public Service Board and Speaker have been named as respondents. The matter will be mentioned on July 27.
