Honoring Ngugi wa Thiong'o: MPs observe moment of silence

The National Assembly paused its proceedings on Thursday to honour Ngugi wa Thiong'o, one of Africa's most celebrated literary icons.

In a tribute delivered on the floor of the House, Speaker Wetang'ula described Ngugi as "one of the greatest sons in the literary world," placing him in the league of global African giants such as Chinua Achebe, Elechi Amadi, and Flora Nwapa.
