Bitter-sweet reaction to Ruto's bonuses for sugarcane farmers

President William Ruto hands a cheque of Sh342,310 to Mr. Josephat Mbaka, the highest bonus earner, accompanied by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, Agriculture CS Mutahi Kagwe, Kakamega Governer Fernandez Barasa during the official launch of bonuses to sugarcane farmers at the Mumias Sugar Company in Kakamega county. There is hope and concern surrounding the decision by the government to award Sh150 million bonus to farmers supplying raw materials to Mumias Sugar Factory.

While President William Ruto's administration is optimistic that the move will open a new path for the struggling industry, some farmers claim the process is shrouded in mystery.
