Siaya Deputy Governor William Oduol has vowed to stay put and work for the people, despite facing frustrations from his boss, Governor James Orengo.

Oduol, who recently survived impeachment, spoke to Spice FM on Thursday,July 13, saying many deputy governors are suffering in silence for fear of victimization.

"Most of the deputy governors are suffering. They just don't talk about it because they respect their bosses," said Oduol.

The deputy governor admitted that fighting impunity in Kenya is not for the faint hearted.

"Fighting corruption is not for the faint-hearted," he said, adding, "You must be ready for the consequences."

He recounted the frustrations he has faced since his falling out with Orengo.

Oduol said that he was denied his allowance, his security was withdrawn, and senior staff ignored him.

"Most of the top staff members were not listening to me because my relationship with the governor had deteriorated," he said.

Oduol said that he has tried to reach out to Orengo to resolve their differences, but the governor has not responded.

However, he expressed hope that things would change soon, ruling out his intentions of resigning.

"Those who think I am going to resign should start getting used to Deputy Governor William Oduol for the next four years," he said.

"I want to protect the people of Siaya and deliver what we promised."
