Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi has called upon Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja to safeguard small businesses from unwarranted harassment by county authorities.

Speaking on Friday, June 23, 2023, during the inauguration of the newly tarmacked Crescent Road in Parklands, Nairobi, Wanyonyi noted that Sakaja's administration has been continuously frustrating businesses in the city by forcibly displacing them without providing suitable alternatives.

"We will not tolerate Governor Johnson Sakaja coming here and destroying businesses," he said, adding, Instead of simply displacing them and leaving them stranded, show them an alternative location."

Wanyonyi emphasized that Sakaja, being familiar with Nairobi, possesses the ability to guide business owners to specific areas where they can continue their operations.

He also expressed the willingness of MPs and leaders, regardless of party affiliations, to collaborate with Sakaja, as he is currently in office and responsible for serving all residents.

"We have no issue with Sakaja. Even if I aspire for that position, he is the incumbent Governor. However, when 2027 comes, we will evaluate his performance and, if he has failed, we will request him to step down," he stated.

While inaugurating Crescent Road, Wanyonyi urged motorists to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations to prevent accidents and maintain the road's condition.

He also cautioned drivers that they would face legal consequences if found violating traffic laws, urging traffic police to be vigilant.

Regarding youth empowerment, the legislator encouraged the younger generation to pursue meaningful business ventures instead of engaging in criminal activities.

At the same time, he donated a beauty package to a group of salon operators in Parklands, aiming to enhance their services.

Wanyonyi encouraged more women to seek resources to start similar businesses.

Earlier in the day, the MP inaugurated the newly tarmacked Muiri Road in Mountain View and presented a car wash machine to the Muiri Self Help Group.
