Man in court for impersonating Duale

A man was yesterday arraigned for impersonating National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale.

James Oire Ombui (pictured), who appeared before Milimani Principal Magistrate Martha Mutuku, was charged with passing himself off as Mr Duale between April 1 and 17.

Oire, who faced another count of impersonating Duale's personal assistant, denied the charges and through his lawyer applied to be furnished with all documentary evidence and the charge sheet.

"Your honour, the prosecution has closed the miscellaneous application file that had been filed by the police. That is why we are here for plea-taking,” his lawyer told the magistrate.

Oire's lawyer further told the court that his client had been granted a cash bail by another court that had first heard the matter, and pleaded with Ms Mutuku to grant him a similar cash bail.

The prosecution did not object to his release and Ms Mutuku directed that she be furnished with the miscellaneous file so as to consider the lawyer's request.
