How the women nominated senators performed

Five of the 16 women nominated as senators in the 2013 election managed to clinch various elective seats in the August 8 polls.

Janet Ong'era, who was Orange Democratic Movement's (ODM) nominated senator, vied for the woman representative position in Kisii County and won with 169,377 votes. Her closest rival was Aburi Dorice from Jubilee Party who garnered 143,007 votes.
