Chemicals worth Sh7 million used to manufacture liquor, which the police intercepted along Kenol Sagana Highway two years ago has been destroyed in an effort to curtail brewing of illicit brews.

Drums containing ethanol were destroyed at Karie in Murang’a following a court order that directed law enforcers in Murang’a South to act in accordance to the law.

Murang’a South Deputy County Commissioner Titus Macharia together with officials from the Kenya Revenue Authority and National Environmental Management Authority supervised destruction of the chemical by inmates from Murang’a GK Prison.

Police officers condoned the sewerage plant to bar the public from getting near the destruction venue following fears that some could want to taste the chemical.
