JSC nominates 28 for Lands and High Court judge positions

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has recommended the appointment of 28 judges.

Nine of the judges are to be appointed to the position of Judge of the High Court while 19 are expected to join the Environment and Land Court.

In a statement by Commission Secretary Anne Amadi, JSC said it had found the 28 nominees suitable after evaluating all candidates who had applied for the positions.

Amadi confirmed the nominees' names had been forwarded to President Uhuru Kenyatta for formal appointment.

"The JSC on October 29, 2016 after lengthy deliberations recommended for appointment the under-listed persons to the positions indicated against their names and has submitted the names to His Excellency the President," she said.

Those recommended for appointment to the positions of High Court judges are Nyagah Jesse Njagi, Onyiego John Nyabuto, Cherere Thrispisa Wanjiku Wamae and Ogola Daniel Ogembo.

Also nominated are Gitari Lucy Waruguru, Ngetich Rachel Biomondo, Kemei David Kipyegomen Oginjo, Anne Colleta Apondi and Matheka Teresia Mumbua.

The nominees for the position of Environment and Land Court judges include Antonina Kossy Bor, Onyango Jane Muyoti, Ochieng Christine E. Atieno and Eboso Benard Mweresa.

Also nominated are Obwa Milicent Akinyi (Odeny), Mbugua Lucy Ngima Hiuhu, Matheka Nelly Awori, Angima Yuvinalis Maronga, Yano Charles Kimutai and Kullow Mohamed Noor.

The list also includes Olola James Otieno, Oundo Mary Clausina, Njoroge Francis Mwangi, Kemei Kimutai Grace, Komingoi Loice Chepkemoi, Cherono Enock Chirchir, Ongondo George Martin Atunga, Mbogo Charles Gitonga and Ohungo Dalmas Omondi.
