Let's not bring back ranking of schools

For years, ranking of schools in national examinations has been a hot potato. Some say the Government was opposed to it because it reflected badly on public schools as private academies took almost all the top slots.

Be that as it may, the Government later abolished ranking of schools after KCPE and KCSE exams. But as we speak, some MPs are making efforts to reintroduce ranking of schools. This is not right because as a section of analysts have put it already, the said ranking does not capture the holistic development of the learner and is therefore is a bad idea.
