The cohesion commission will engage 1,200 police officers in monitoring politicians for hate-speech ahead of the 2017 polls.

Speaking in Nakuru after meeting over 100 leaders and peace crusaders from Kisumu and Nandi counties, the National Cohesion and Integration Commission Chair Francis ole Kaparo (pictured) said the officers would be trained and equipped with audio-visual recording devices.

He said the move was aimed at stopping the spread of hate messages perpetrated by politicians during the electioneering period.
