President Uhuru Kenyatta Saturday tasked the Judiciary to expedite corruption cases before it in order to hasten the fight against corruption.

While addressing Kenyans during Jamhuri Day celebrations at the Nyayo National Stadium, Uhuru said the Government was making notable steps to fight the vice and noted that Sh2.24 billion of corruptly acquired money has already been either recovered or frozen.

The president said that anyone who has been implicated in graft should take personal responsility.

“Nobody is above the law. No one should hide under the false believe that their religion or community is under siege,” said Uhuru.

Speaking during the same occasion, Deputy President William Ruto said that the Government is prepared to be held to account by all institutions and individuals on how public funds are being used.

“All of us must commit to the proper use of resources. We are going to take firm decision on those who are involved in wastage,” said Ruto.
