The Independent Electoral Board has pushed Football Kenya Federation (FKF) branch elections to next Thursday.
The elections were to be held on Monday. In a statement to newsrooms yesterday, the board said it was happy that sub-branch elections were held in most places.
Board chairman Donald Kipkorir said they are compiling the results and will make an announcement on where repeat elections will be conducted.
Elections did not take place in 17 sub-branches out of the total number of 85 sub-branches.
North Eastern branch had moved to court on Friday and obtained an injunction requiring the Electoral Board to allow them take part in sub-branch and branch elections.
The order was obtained by FKF North Eastern executive committee member Mohammed Muller in the wake of reports that the branch may not have been allowed to take part in the polls.
Elsewhere, groups allied to presidential candidates Nick Mwendwa and Ambrose Rachier dominated the sub-branch elections in South and North Coast branches on Friday.
Mwendwa’s team swept the seats in Kaloleni, Lamu and Kilifi sub-branches while Rachier team won the Taita and Malindi sub-branch elections.
Elections were not held in Mombasa, Kwale and Tana River sub-branches due to controversies over the eligible list of clubs.
In Lamu, Mwendwa’s team went in unopposed with Ahmed Hilal elected as chairman with Mohammed Omar as his vice. Nassir Faraj and Emmanuel Bayta will serve as secretary and assistant secretary. Mohamoud Ali is the treasurer and will be assisted by Answar Ahmed. Swaleh Abdalla and Ummu Ali will serve as youth and women representatives respectively.
In Taita Taveta, Javan Mwadime is the chairman after he defeated Renson Mnyamwezi 46-8 while Simon Omondi went in unopposed as vice chairman.
Bigvai Mwailemi beat Peter Kileta 45-3 to grab the secretary post and will be assisted by Mwasi. Mombo is the treasurer while Zablon Mwakirete defeated Seif Mohammed 44-4 for the youth seat. Deborah Wakesho beat Jane Okello 34-13 for the women representative post.
In Kaloleni, Nickson Randu garnered 47 voters against Ngao Mgaza’s seven to become the new chairman. Others are Mariam Mkumbi (vice chairperson), John Barisa (secretary), Gilbert Ngome (vice secretary), Kazungu Kambi (treasurer), Edward Chibula (vice treasurer), Lina Zuya (women representative), Johnson Chai (youth representative).
In Malindi, Julius Mweni defeated Ali Masoud 20-6 in the battle for chairmanship seat while Tom Lango defeated Charles Kwicha 21-4 for the vice chairman post. Lucas Bahati garnered 22 votes against Japheth Kaingu’s five to claim the secretary post.
Tom Mbaka is the assistant secretary. Others are Billy Mwabati (treasurer), Hamza Mwita (assistant treasurer), Claudius Imboha (youth representative), Anne Fondo (women representative).

In Kilifi, Shaban Mwanengo went in unopposed as chairman and will be deputised by Charo Menza. Others are Sifa Zaro (secretary) and Samson Katana (assistant secretary).
