The prosecution has lined up 30 witnesses to prove that Pastor James Ng'ang'a caused death through careless driving in July.

As the trial began yesterday the prosecution revealed that five witnesses will testify in camera as they are under witness protection.

The Neno Evangelism Ministry pastor has denied causing the death of Mercy Njeri at Manguo on the Nairobi-Naivasha highway on July 26.

Government Pathologist Peter Ndegwa told the Limuru Senior Resident Magistrate Godfrey Odour that Ms Njeri's death was caused by multiple-organ injuries which led to trauma due to the accident.

ruptured liver

The doctor told the court that Njeri had bruises on her left shoulder, face and head. Her right thigh and left knee joint were fractured, her chest had bruised tissues and right lung was also bruised. Her liver was ruptured and her intestine was bruised.

Mr Ndegwa conducted the post-mortem at Tigoni District Hospital Mortuary in the presence of Police Constable Charles Nyambane who is based at Tigoni Police Station after the body was positively identified by her relatives.

Assa Nyakundi, representing Apostle Ng'ang'a had sought adjournment of the case. He said his client wanted to be represented by two lawyers, himself and Kioko Kilukumi, who had another matter in the High Courct.

But State Counsel Alloys Kemo objected to the request and told the court that Mr Nyakundi is familiar with the case and should be the one to lead Ng'ang'a's defence.
